Dr. Mario Turi, Orthopedic Surgeon

Dr. Turi earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Care Administration while stationed at Camp Lejeune Marine Corp base.  He earned his medical degree from East Carolina University in NC.  He completed his internship and residencies at Duke University in NC.  He also completed a fellowship in pediatric orthopedics and scoliosis surgery at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital in Dallas, TX.   Dr. Turi is board certified in Orthopedic Surgery.   He has also published multiple medical articles and provided presentations on a variety of medical and non-medical topics locally, nationally and internationally.

Dr. Turi brings over 30 years of orthopedic experience to CRMS.   A few of the many services he offers includes care of fractures; occupational and sports injuries; arthroscopes of the knee, ankle or shoulder; traditional open surgery; injuries and arthritis of  the hand, wrist, elbow, shoulder, hip, knee, ankle and foot.

Dr. Turi grew up in New York City with his mother, father and younger brother.  He first attended college in Buffalo before enlisting in the US Navy as a Hospital Corpsman.   The Vietnam War ended before he was shipped out on orders and ended up spending his enlistment at Camp Lejuene in NC.   While in the Navy he earned a degree in Healthcare Administration before applying to and attending medical school.

Dr.  Turi originally came to Maine due to his interest in sailing. He says the idea of being in a big city is not appealing to him and prefers a more country setting.    “Calais is a great fit that also suits my outside passion of sailing with such easy access to the water,” said Dr. Turi.    Besides sailing, Dr. Turi also enjoys hunting, fishing and time spent with his two sons or his dogs.

To schedule an appointment with Dr. Turi, call the CRMS Orthopedics office at 454-7361.    Please give Dr. Turi a warm welcome when the opportunity presents itself.
