Food and Nutrition Services

The Food and Nutrition Services Department provides both food production and clinical nutrition services.

The Food Services Manager is a Certified Dietary Manager, Serve Safe Certified and Certified Food Protection Professional. The Food Services Manager is responsible for food services production and staff.

The Food and Nutrition Services Department is staffed from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. daily.  Pre-packaged grab and go meals are available for purchase in the cafeteria for staff and public.

The Food and Nutrition Services Department provides meals to patients and outpatients according to physician’s orders with emphasis on age, food preferences, and satisfaction. Clinical Nutrition Services are provided by a Registered/Licensed Dietitian and a Licensed Diet Technician.

Clinical Nutrition Services that are provided include screening for nutritional risk, nutritional assessments, monitoring/evaluation of nutritional care, patient diet instructions and education, and staff in services. Food Services Supervisors assist with patient menus selections, meal rounds, and nutritional screening.

A Registered/Licensed Dietitian provides nutrition screening, nutrition assessments as indicated, and diet instructions for inpatients.  A Licensed Diet Technician, assists in providing Nutrition Services.

The Dietitian also provides Outpatient Diet Counseling on referral by a provider. Topics available for instruction includes:  Diabetes, Hyperlipidemia, Renal Disease, Celiac Disease, Weight Loss, Weight Gain, Obstetrics, including Gestational Diabetes, and Nutrition for Children and Adolescents.

The Dietitian also provides diet consultation to other facilities per contract with facility and CCH.

Nutrition Services is involved in many community programs.  Presentations are offered upon request.  The Registered Dietitian also participates in school and community health and education fairs for various age groups.
