The Food and Nutrition Services Department provides food service for both patient and employee nourishment, as well as clinical nutrition services.
The Director of the department is a Dietetic Technician Registered/Licensed and is a Certified Food Protection Manager, The Director is responsible for oversight of the department’s budget, policies, scheduling etc. The Café and Food Services Supervisor is responsible for food services production and staff. The Nutrition Services Supervisor is Dietetic Technician Licensed and is responsible for inpatient nutrition services.
The Food and Nutrition Services Department is staffed from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. daily. A cafeteria is in place for staff and visitors, with daily specials and pre-packaged grab and go meals available for purchase.
The Food and Nutrition Services Department provides meals to patients and outpatients according to physician’s orders with emphasis on age, food preferences, and satisfaction. Clinical Nutrition Services are provided by a Licensed Diet Technician that is overseen by a Consulting Registered/Licensed Dietitian.
Inpatient Clinical Nutrition Services that are provided include nutritional assessments, monitoring/evaluation of nutritional care, patient diet instructions and education, meal rounds and staff in services. Food Services Staff assist patients with menu selections.
A Consulting Registered/Licensed Dietitian provides nutrition assessments as indicated, and diet instructions for inpatients in partnership with the Nutrition Services Supervisor, as well as in the absence of the Nutrition Services Supervisor. The Consulting Registered/Licensed Dietitian also provides Outpatient Nutrition Counseling on referral by a provider. Topics available for instruction include Diabetes, Hyperlipidemia, Renal Disease, Celiac Disease, Weight Loss, Weight Gain, Obstetrics, including Gestational Diabetes, and Nutrition for Children and Adolescents. Other services provided by the Consultant are monthly test trays, department sanitation inspections, clinical and sanitation in-service trainings and ServSafe training/certification for department staff.
